Testimonies build faith, share hope, and lock arms with those who need to see the strength of the Lord.

I am passionate about our identity in Christ and the importance of knowing who He is in order to discover who we are.

Identity is ever changeable without a fixed point to move from. Finding freedom means knowing Christ so that we can be known in Him.

My experience with healing from depression and anxiety, left me searching for a way to make sure that I did not go back. What I found was my identity being released from everything I could name.

What does it mean to have identity in Christ? I would love to share!

Invite to Speak

I had the incredible opportunity to share on on “Music, Songwriting, and Your Story,” at the Worldcast Ministries Conference.

I was also honored to be on the podcast “The Word is Krystle Clear” where I shared my testimony of being healed from depression and anxiety.

As I have encountered people in the time since I have realized that the hard things we walk through equip us to lock arms with others going through the same.

Preface: A letter to the reader

IIf we could sit down for coffee and probably talk too much. I would buy your cup of coffee while you weren’t looking and casually tell you some mistake I made to help you feel comfortable. I would do my best to make space for your heart. As awkward silence began to grow, I would give you a listening ear because you need to be heard.

Inwardly, I would pray for you and wait for the Lord to lead. I would be intentional with my answers and vulnerable with my story. This is a mountain-top journey that requires good company. Finding identity takes bravery. I would know that you showing up was as much bravery as you could muster, so I would try to give you some of mine.

We aren’t in a coffee shop but I can share some words before we go on this book journey together. I know they’re true, because I know your Creator. You look a little like Him under that worn exterior. You have so much to offer. You are trapped in all the things that could go and have gone wrong, and it is keeping you from truly living. You’ve been trapped in a cage you cannot see. Do you want to know a secret? You’re already being brave. You are doing all the things you are doing while in shackles. That takes great strength. You picked up the book. You’re reading actual words. Even if they feel too heavy to comprehend.

Your identity isn’t in the things you have done wrong or the things that you have done right. Maybe you already know that because nothing fits and everything makes you feel more isolated. Somewhere along the way the idea, “You aren’t worthy until you make up for your mistakes,” has become part of your ‘mode of operation.’ You don’t trust God’s forgiveness, and you don’t trust God’s words that you belong to Him. They might seem too flimsy.

Friend, It is time to let go of that suffocating blanket that binds you. It’s time to step into the light and let yourself breathe for maybe what feels like the first time. God created you for something more than self-condemnation and shame. You have been trapped for far too long in dark isolation and it is time for you to declare your name as God called you.

You are surrounded by counterfeit truths that have promised you so much but failed to deliver. This is my promise, everything in this book happened. I thought I was too much and too little for God at once. He still showed up for me. He shows up for His kids. Even you. Borrow my faith. Take it slow or jump in with both feet. This is your journey and I’m cheering you on.

Sincerely,

Cassie

Lord, sometimes we don’t believe you because the problems we see seem too big, too numerous, and our fault to be fixable by a good and holy God. Come and help. Speak again. Lead again. Help again. We need something. This isn’t working. We are listening and waiting for your instructions. And while we wait, we will worship You for Your goodness and mercy and creation. We will read Your word to become familiar with Your voice. Not to check off a “good Christian reading plan” but to learn Your voice-print. Help us to see You, and be seen.

In Jesus name,

Amen.
